Chronopost has opened its second city depot in the middle of Paris near the Eiffel Tower. One of the big hurdles was finding a suitable logistics space. Since there are no more continuous large areas in Paris, Chronopost decided to take a special step. Without further ado, an existing multi-storey car park was rented and converted. Within a very short time, the multi-storey car park became the Chronopost transhipment depot. With its 3,000 square metres of space, up to 3,500 parcels are to be handled daily at this location. In order to take full account of ecological aspects, 10 fully electric delivery vans were put into service.
With over 70 cameras and the new APF video+ software solution from AMETRAS, a technically innovative video system was also installed. AMETRAS was able to successfully assert itself against three competitors. Within three weeks, an all-round functioning video solution was created. "Due to the special building, low-hanging ceilings, little space for mounting camera systems, the installation was not routine even for such an experienced team as AMETRAS. After three weeks, live operation could be started. Today, the customer monitors the entire area with only one person. APF video+ was particularly convincing in terms of operation and simplicity of use," says Michael Boudry, Key Account Manager at AMETRAS.
